PLDT NAP boxes or commonly known as fiber SLOTS is identified by usually being white colored plastic boxes located hanging above ground on telephone poles beside public roads. But it is also rarely colored black or gray in some places. Active PLDT NAP boxes would have a code painted in front of it and can be visibly identified with 3 by 3 lines of code (LOCATION ID, LP ID, NP ID). Each box would at least have 8 available ports, meaning 8 houses can connect to each box. Each box can only be located near your home between 250-less than 400 meters for installation to be viable. You can tell the number of houses connected to the box by counting the number of small wires coming out of the NAP Box.

figure above: Fiber wires going to houses can be easily counted by looking at the wires passing through the metal loops below and at the sides of the NAP box

If a NAP box is not present nearby and there are no available ports on the napbox then viability of installation wouldn't be available until the next installation of new NAP box on your area which would usually take at least 4 months to more than a year to happen.

figure above: Cement poles are where fiber wires going to home can be layed out. It is required that there must be poles in every 35-50 meters of distance for the wires to be safely layed out going towards houses from NAP boxes.

In some ocassions in the absence of PLDT poles, privately owned poles, electrical transmission poles or barangay owned street lamp posts can be used but with proper permission by the subscriber to the owner or caretakers of said poles or lamposts.

Because of location restrictions, permission requirements at safety concerns, some areas may not be able to be installed with PLDT FIBR. Identification if your home is viable for installation is fully determined by a visual inspection done by PLDT Technicians that will be assigned for your home installation. But knowing beforehand these technical requirements can help you in your application process. It helps you to decide to apply for PLDT FIBR at the right time.
